Pneumococcal disease is an infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, sometimes referred to as pneumococcus. Pneumococcus can cause many types of illnesses, including ear infections pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infection (sepsis). 

We are enrolling volunteers for a clinical trial evaluating a vaccine that may protect against pneumococcal disease. 

You may be eligible to take part in this clinical trial if you are 50 years of age or older and: 

  • Are in good health
  • Have no history of pneumococcal disease.
  • Have not previously received a pneumococcal vaccine.

Eligible participants for this trial will be paid for clinic attendance and reimbursed reasonable travel expenses.
