International NASH Day

International NASH Day

International NASH Day (IND) is a day set aside to raise awareness and urgency around fatty liver disease and its more advanced form, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a hidden epidemic and the progressive form of Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). NASH affects more than 115 million people worldwide and it is estimated that 357 million people will be affected by 2030.

NASH is seen as a silent disease and the symptoms do not show making it often underdiagnosed and underreported. NASH can affect people of any age, including children but it is more common in people who live with certain conditions, including obesity (BMI >30) and conditions that may be related to obesity, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.

If you believe you might be at risk of having NASH, consider speaking to your healthcare provider. For additional information, visit International NASH Day
