National Patient Participation Week
The Importance of PPGs
They are instrumental in advocating for patients' needs, preferences, and concerns. A primary function of a Patient Participation Group is to provide feedback on the healthcare services and facilities from a patient's perspective. This feedback can range from clinical care received, and the physical environment of the healthcare facility, to the operational aspects such as appointment scheduling or waiting times. Furthermore, PPGs often help in creating health education materials and organizing health-related events, with the aim of improving health literacy and promoting preventive healthcare. They also play a crucial role in strategic planning, helping to shape and develop services that meet the community's needs. This National Patient Participation Week we would like to recognise and praise the work of the healthcare providers, the carers and the patients who work within these groups, if you would like to find out more visit their website here
